A New Cigar is a Game-Changer
Remembering my "Meet in the Middle" chat: My Father's latest release proves collaborations and new origins are the future.
Big news in the cigar world dropped on July 11, 2025, with the announcement that "Honduran My Father Blue Now Shipping." This is a pretty big deal for the Garcia family, who make My Father Cigars. Why? Well, for the first time ever, they're making a My Father cigar entirely in Honduras, using only Honduran tobacco. This is a huge shift because My Father is famous for its Nicaraguan cigars, as Cigar Aficionado and JC Newman's PR pointed out. The My Father Blue even sports a lighter Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a mix of Honduran tobaccos.
This move by My Father isn't just about a new cigar; it's a smart business decision. Remember how I talked in my last article about the decline in Honduran cigar imports? And how I mentioned on the "Meet in the Middle Cigar Show" that collaborations and diversification are key to success? This is exactly what My Father is doing!
By making cigars in Honduras, they're spreading out their manufacturing, instead of relying solely on Nicaragua. This is a smart move that helps them avoid potential problems if something goes wrong in just one country.
This approach helps them steer clear of potential issues like political problems, poor weather damaging crops, or worker strikes in a single country.
As a fan of Honduran tobacco, using it allows them to create exciting new flavors for cigar fans. This expands their product range and attracts more customers, proving they're skilled at blending great cigars no matter the origin of the tobacco.
Big companies are trying something new! They're working with other companies to make cigars in different countries.
Do you think more big companies will do this to sell more cigars and stay popular?
What do you think about My Father's new Honduran venture? And seriously, I'd love to hear your questions and get your ideas for future articles! Let me know what you'd like to read about next!
See you on the show when we review the H. Upmann AJ Fernandez Heritage on July 20 at 7:15pm. Subsribe to get alerts straight into your inbox.
Adiós,

I've always had a"thing" for Honduran cigars so this is good news. If people like AJ can get more involved in the Honduran market it can only improve the quality and availability of Honduran cigars.
